These courses emphasize regular participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that promote lifelong healthy active living. Student learning will include the application of movement principles to refine skills; participation in a varitey of activities that enhance personal competence, fitness, and health; examination of issues related to healthy sexuality, healthy eating, positive mental health, substance use and abuse and healthy relationships; and the use of informed deicision making, conflict resolution, and social skills in making personal choices.
Danforth has a long history of excellence in physical education. Our impressive facilities speak for themselves: two gyms, a weight room, a wrestling room and a large outdoor field and track.
We offer various health and physical education courses for Grades 9 through 12. For Grades 9 to 12 we have Healthy and Active Living Education courses, Grades 11 to 12 we offer Large Group Games and Personal Fitness courses and for Grade 12 we have Exercise Science aclassroom based academic and theory course. Our activity based courses may include: basketball, touch football, soccer, volleyball, European handball, principles of weight training, fitness, badminton, yoga, ultimate frisbee, lacrosse, softball, tchoukball and table tennis.
